Raksha Bandhan 2011
Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi is a festival primarily observed in North India which celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters. The festival is observed by Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims. The central ceremony involves the tying of a rakhi by a sister on her brother wrist. This symbolizes the sister love and prayers for her brother well being and the brother lifelong vow to protect her.The festival falls on the full moon day of the Shravan month of the Hindu lunisolar calendar. It grew in popularity after Rani Karnavati the widowed queen of Chittor sent a rakhi to the Mughal emperor Humayun when she required his help.

Aaj rakhi ka din khushiya laya hai,
behan-bhai ke rishte ko khushiyon se bharne aya hai,
aao milkar manaye raksha bandhan,
kyun ki yeh har behan-bhai ko apana furz yad dilane aya hai.
Happy Rakshabandhan.
